Tidbits

Here is a list of my favorite, top secret beauty tips! Overtime, the list will be growing. I'd also like as much input I can get from everyone, so if you have a beauty secret you'd like to share, please feel free to e-mail me with your name, e-mail address, website (if applicable), and your secret. I'll give everyone credit for their contributions, and hopefully we can make the list grow!

♥ Visine helps take out redness in your skin, as well as your eyes!

♥ Using a light green base on top of red blemishes before your concealer and foundation will help minimize redness and hide those suckers! The law of color applies here- red and green cancel each other out because they are complimentary colors. The same rule is used when coloring your hair. Other complimentary colors are purple and gold, and blue and orange.

♥ When shaping and/or cleaning up your eye brows with tweezers, put some hair gel on your brows before you start. Let it dry for a few minutes, then use your tweezers to separate the hairs you wish to get rid of, from the rest of your brow. The gel helps hold the different sections together, making it easier to tweeze only what you wish!

♥ When using self-tanning lotion, mix it with a bit of regular body lotion. This will give you a lighter, more even application. Always remember to exfoliate your skin before use, and don't wash it off too soon!

♥ Even though most people would rather shower after going to the tanning bed, it's more beneficial to shower before you make the trip. Cleaning off the dirt and dead skin before you go under the lights will help your tan stick and last longer! Don't shower for a couple of hours afterwards, either, as hard as it may be!

♥ Do not buy professional hair products, or any professional beauty product for that matter, unless they are sold at a professional hair salon or professional beauty supply store. Several mass markets are selling professional products such as WalMart, Target, K-Mart, drug stores, grocery stores, etc. but the products on the shelves might not be what you expect. Some of these "professional" products may be expired, shipped improperly, or just plain old cheap rip-offs. They may look like and smell like the same product your hair stylist used on you at the salon, but you may be being fooled! What it comes down to, just read the back of the bottle. Most, if not all, professional products will say, "Only guaranteed when sold by a professional." So while it may seem convenient, you're better off buying your favorite supplies at the salon. The prices won't be any different, anyway, and they're more likely to run specials, too!
